Diary of a Wimpy Khim

So… I have a confession.  I am just the slightest, teensiest bit, extremely, scared of anesthesia. I’ve never  been put under for any kind of procedure, I was more terrified about the epidural when I gave birth to my first son, than actually popping out 7 lbs of adorableness without medication. (Yes popped, because that is essentially how it went down.)  I have tendons in my ankle that I am sure look like spaghetti for fear of going under the knife.  I have valid reason for my fear, mostly watching too many medical prime-time dramas and that movie Awake with Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba. Also, it may have a little to do with the fact that I’m  the girl that has reactions to random things, for example mosquito bites on the average person are no big deal, on me however…

On the real though, I think it boils down to this personality of mine not loving the idea of complete loss of control. There I said it, this is supposed to be a therapeutic outlet for me, so let’s get it all out there. Hi, I’m Khim and I’m a control freak.  Wooo, I feel better!

Seeing as how my surgery is next week, it became glaringly apparent that I needed to deal with aforementioned anxiousness.  Enter 2 Timothy 1:7,

“For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind”.

I mean it would not have surprised me if an angel came down and handed me a highlighter and post it tab.

There are many other verses I’ve added to my repertoire, but this was another verse that stood out. I have it memorized and will probably recite it repeatedly on the day of surgery.

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety”. Psalm 4:8

Alright, game face.

I couldn’t help myself.

Let’s do this! Look out cancer we’re coming for ya.
